We’ve Only Just Begun…

Another successful Oak Fest has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the Oak Fest spirit has disappeared. In fact, over the next few weeks, there will be many new changes to the main website located at www.oakfest.com.

For example, we will be announcing the winners of the “Most Entertaining Band” as well as the “Most Popular Band” from the Oak Forest Youth Commission’s Battle of the Bands. We also have many more photographs to upload to the site, however you can certainly review what we have already posted to this blog by clicking here.

One of the new features of the Oak Fest website is our year-round Salute To Hometown Heroes. If you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to stop by and see what pages we’ve been pulling together for your use. There is a list of resources for veterans as well as numerous ways citizens can get involved with supporting our American Heroes. Our intent is to grow this section over the next year so be sure to stop by once and a while.

Also, if you haven’t placed our RSS feed on your desktop yet, be sure to add us since the 2008 Oak Fest is not that far away and there is a lot of work to be done.   We will be using this blog for announcements throughout the year, including posting a schedule of board meetings which the public is invited to attend.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who participated behind-the-scenes of the 20th Anniversary Oak Fest!  Without your help, this event wouldn’t have been the success that it was.  You all deserve a standing ovation!

So even though the 2007 Oak Fest is now a part of history, the 21st Anniversary Oak Fest has only just begun… 

*** Correction on Mega-Pass sales – Sale begins June 25th

This morning I published to the website and blog information regarding the sale of Mega-Passes beginning June 18th. This is incorrect and should have said “Monday, June 25th.” I have changed all pages showing this information.

Although a blog or a website is not a traditional media format, mistakes still matter and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anyone.

Blog Update – February 23, 2007

Today we will begin uploading to this blog a number of photographs from the 2005 and 2006 Oak Fest.  This surge of materials will be most noticable if you are currently receiving our RSS feed and should end within the next few days.

Web Site Update – 2/14/07

This most recent update was designed to address a variety of issues including browser incompatibility issues.

The update included:

- New search feature provided by FreeFind.com which allowed us to integrate the search results within our general template.

- New site design/layout works well within Internet Explorer, Firefox while accommodating various display setting and PDA issues.

- Easier to use main menu and side bar site map.

- All e-mail addresses are staggered for safety from auto-bots attempting to farm e-mails.
